Occupational Health and the Renewable Energy Industry: Research and Policy Implications

The First Annual Mountain & Plains ERC Occupational Health & Energy Summit
April 13th-15th, 2011
Anschutz Medical Campus, Aurora, CO

What will renewable energy mean for worker health and safety?

The 1st Annual MAP ERC Energy Summit will address the occupational health and safety issues of the rapidly expanding renewable energy industry. The aim of the conference is to identify gaps in knowledge to address research and policy needs. The conference will address the following questions:

  • What do we know about the occupational health and safety implications of energy production - renewable and otherwise?
  • How do we ensure that "sustainable energy" is necessarily safe, healthy and sustainable for workers?
  • What research needs to be done on renewable energy's potential occupational health risks?
  • What are the lessons that we've learned from occupational health research in extractive energy industries? How can we use those lessons to promote worker health in emerging renewable energy production?

The conference will include invited speakers, submitted papers and submitted poster presentations

Their site will have more information as the conference date approaches. Periodically check here for updates.
