Today marks the 40th anniversary of Earth Day and more than a billion individuals across 190 countries will come together to work toward a healthier and more sustainable planet (CDC). The movement started with one man organizing a group of students. Without the efforts of Gaylord Nelson; Earth Day and many health and safety acts wouldn't have been introduced to legislation in the 1970s.
