Women in OSH history: Alice Hamilton

NWCOHS is pleased to celebrate Women's History Month by highlighting important women in the history of occupational and environmental health and safety.

Alice Hamilton (1869 – 1970) is considered to be the founder of occupational medicine and a leader in the field of toxicology. She was the first woman appointed to the faculty of Harvard University and the recipient of many awards and honors.
