Women in OSH history: Alice Hamilton

NWCOHS is pleased to celebrate Women's History Month by highlighting important women in the history of occupational and environmental health and safety.

Alice Hamilton (1869 – 1970) is considered to be the founder of occupational medicine and a leader in the field of toxicology. She was the first woman appointed to the faculty of Harvard University and the recipient of many awards and honors.

Global OHS: 25th Anniversary of Bhopal disaster

December 3rd marks the 25th Anniversary of the Bhopal disaster in which a Union Carbide plant in India released a large amount of methyl isocyanate (MIC) gas and other toxins, resulting in the exposure of over 500,000 people making it one of the largest and deadliest industrial accidents in history.
