NORTHWEST OCCCUPATIONAL HEALTH CONFERENCE October 9-11, 2013
This years short course, October 9th, is "Biomarkers and Workplace Exposures: Implications for Health and Safety Practitioners". This short course is jointly sponsored by the Pacific Northwest Section-AIHA and the UW Northwest Center for Occupational Health and Safety. Biomarkers (measure of internal dose) can be used to indicate exposure to many different types of agents in the workplace, such as solvents, metals, and marijuana. What are the implications of the use of biomarkers and workplace exposures for health and safety practitioners? Learn how current medical and workplace applications of biomarkers are being developed and used in the workplace. This course includes a review of principles of toxicology, biomarkers in medical surveillance, and examples of the practical use of biomarkers of workplace exposures.
